The end of this year marks a full year of being in the Lolita fashion for me. I've been reflecting on the things I've collected and what I've been enjoying about the fashion. Having worn/been interested in Japanese fashion for a few years now, I haven't been a stranger to Lolita fashion. The days I would pine over Angelic Pretty's site as a teen are still fond memories. To be collecting and wearing the fashion now feels a bit like a dream come true. There's always been something about sweet, girly styles that I've really loved and Lolita lets you wear that to the maximum. It's always been a very unapologetic fashion in how flamboyant and daring even the most "casual" coordinate can be compared to contemporary fashion. Especially Angelic Pretty's "Golden Era" when sweet reigned supreme.✨

This is the era I am most interested in wearing and collecting. At the time I watched the releases from afar but now I feel the most comfortable wearing them compared to how it would have felt then. I've been very lucky in my endeavors, finding some of the dresses I thought would be hard to find or cost a small fortune!
But moving on, this year has been a wonderful experience for me! When I started out I wondered if my state would even have an active Lolita Community, but lo and behold there were two. Thankfully one was closer and I couldn't be happier. It's always so fun to get out of my comfort zone i.e my house and talk to other Lolita. Apart from doubting any other Lolita would be nearby, I hadn't dreamed that a brand would come here for... well, anything. Blowing my mind, Baby held a tea party at a local con and it was such a lovely event! The two guests, a designer at Baby and a store manager, were absolutely adorable! 💖
Watching my wardrobe grow has also been a very elating experience. To ease in my first Lolita pieces were from Bodyline: Two JSKs, a skirt, and a blouse. It was fun to wear them and actually see myself in the style I had been watching intently. I was also waiting on a Baby skirt, salopette, and an Angelic Pretty petticoat. Since then my wardrobe has grown more than I thought it would have! Japanese sites like Mercari and Fril are where most of my luck has paid off. It's amazing the kinds of deals you can find just laying around there.
Since then I have been an adamant Angelic Pretty hoarder, throwing in a Baby piece where I can. Very recently I've welcomed in pieces from Metamorphose, at first their prints didn't seem to be quite my speed. But I've found a few series' that I am looking to put into my collection. The highlight of the year would be Angelic Pretty's KiraKira☆Doll set that I found new for $150, that was one of the dresses I hadn't dreamed I would find. ✨
I'm hoping the next year will be just as enjoyable, if not more so, in Lolita!
